³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Basic Peace Officers complete training- The cadets of ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Basic Peace Officers Training Program were recognized at a special ceremony held Dec. 17 at the college’s Fayette Campus in Washington Court House.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Theatre hosts Jan. 17 auditions for "Almost, Maine"- Auditions for ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Theatre’s spring production of John Cariani’s "Almost, Maine" will be held 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Central Campus.
Southern State Singers to present Dec. 15 concert- The Southern State Singers will present their 15th annual Christmas concert 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 234 N. High St., Hillsboro.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Student Government awards first scholarship- The ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Foundation is pleased to award the first Student Government Association (SGA) scholarship to BG Prater of Hillsboro, a second-year student at Southern State.

Southern State hosts community holiday events- The Southern State Community Band and the Southern State Singers will present a combined Holiday Concert 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on the college’s Central Campus.
Grow! Highland County awarded for volunteer efforts- The resource board members of Grow! Highland County received an Excellence in Volunteerism Runner Up Award from the Ohio Economic Development Association (OEDA).
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ pottery students hosting Nov. 19 show and sale- Students enrolled in ceramics classes at ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ are hosting a Pottery Students Showcase & Sale from 6-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19, in the Learning Resources Center on the college’s South Campus.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Theatre presents "Our Town" Nov. 15-17- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Theatre proudly presents Thornton Wilder’s "Our Town," playing Nov. 15-17 in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Central Campus.

³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Board of Trustees to meet Nov. 13- The ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Board of Trustees will meet 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, in the conference room of Hospice of Hope Ohio Valley, 215 Hughes Blvd., Mt. Orab.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ band to perform Nov. 10 Veterans Day concert- The Southern State Community Band will honor our nation's veterans with a Veterans Day concert 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ's Central Campus.
U.S. Bank contributes to ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Foundation- U.S. Bank has been a significant contributor to Southern State, exceeding $15,000 in donations and resulting in numerous scholarships to Southern State students.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ offers short-term workforce training workshops- New short-term workforce training workshops—in Food Safety, Home Inspection, and Mold Inspection—are being offered through ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ.
Southern State announces new GED site in Adams County- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ announces the opening of a new GED preparation site in West Union.
Free seminar on Human Trafficking at ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ on Nov. 1- "An Overview of Human Trafficking" will be held 1–3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, on ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Central Campus.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ hosts Paranormal Investigators for Oct. 29 event- An Ohio group known as Paranormal Scientific Investigators (PSI) will present a free special event 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29 in the Learning Resources Center on ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Fayette Campus.
Master Gardeners plan workshops at ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ South Campus- The Brown County Master Gardeners will present a series of educational workshops and presentations on ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s South Campus.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Mt. Orab Campus on track to open August 2014- Its steel framework soundly in place, ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ#8217;s Mt. Orab Campus is right on schedule to open August 2014.

Southern State announces new GED site in Peebles
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ announces the opening of a new GED preparation site in Peebles.
Chad Strahler named softball coach at Southern State- Chad Strahler, a former head coach at Miami Trace High School, has been hired as the women’s softball head coach at ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Patri-Tots earns state award for excellence- In recognition of excellence and an ongoing commitment to children, the Patri-Tots Learning Center on Central Campus (Hillsboro) of ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ has received a One-Star Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) award from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ plans Sept. 26 artist reception for Elaine Balsley- An exhibition featuring artist Elaine Balsley is currently on display in the Learning Resources Center (LRC) of ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s South Campus.

³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Theatre season tickets on sale Sept. 2- Beginning Sept. 2, season tickets for ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Theatre’s 2013–14 season will be on sale. This season marks the 10th Anniversary Season with current director, Rainee Angles.
Thirty complete Southern State’s practical nursing program- The 47th class of ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s practical nursing program was honored during a special recognition ceremony held July 30 on the college’s Central Campus in Hillsboro.
Southern State offers Aug. 28 info session on dental, veterinary training- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ is in partnership with Boston Reed College to provide short-term, classroom-based coursework in dental assistant and veterinary assistant training.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ announces honors lists for summer semester- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ has released its president’s and dean’s list for academic excellence for Spring Semester 2013.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ info session Aug. 21 for degree offered in Manchester- Three local institutions have partnered to offer an Electromechanical Engineering degree in Manchester and those interested can learn more about it during an Aug. 21 drop-in informational session.
Southern State choir begins 15th season- The Southern State Singers will begin rehearsals for the 2013-14 season 6 p.m. Monday, August 26, in Room 107 of ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Central Campus.

³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Associate Degree Nursing program graduates 40- Forty graduates of ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Associate Degree Nursing program were recognized during a recent pinning ceremony at the college’s Central Campus in Hillsboro.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Basic Peace Officers complete training- The cadets of ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Basic Peace Officers Training Program were recognized at a special ceremony held July 11 at the college’s Fayette Campus in Washington Court House.

³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ announces honors lists for spring semester- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ has released its president’s and dean’s list for academic excellence for Spring Semester 2013.
Southern State wins regional and national design awards- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Office of Communications was recognized for its new logo and marketing campaign by the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR).

³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Adult Opportunity Center holds recognition celebration- Area residents who passed the General Education Development (GED) test were honored June 14 at the 25th annual Adult Opportunity Center’s Recognition Celebration at ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Central Campus in Hillsboro.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ info session July 9 for Adams County classes- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ will host two informational sessions regarding college classes offered in Adams County.
Police donation supports Fayette County students- Washington C.H. Police Department Detective Ron Sockman presents a $2,000 check to support student scholarships for Fayette County students attending Southern State.

- The Personnel Committee of the ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Board of Trustees will meet 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, in Room 411 of the college’s North Campus.
Info sessions on ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Home & Mold Inspection classes- Through a partnership with Parker Training Services, ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ will provide continuing education programs in Home Inspection and Mold Inspection.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ plans Appalachian Skills Camp from June 17–21- There are lots of summer camps, but only one like the Appalachian Skills Camp. Designed for students entering grades 4 and up, the 2013 Appalachian Skills Camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, June 17–21, at ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s South Campus.
Grounds for Celebration: Work on New ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Campus Begins- Passersby will soon notice a transformation taking place as a barren tract of land is prepped for the two-story, 50,000-square-foot complex of ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s newest campus.
Early Education students mark ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ degree completion- Eleven students in ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s early education program completed their practicum experience and earned their associate of applied science degrees.

Adams County judge selected as ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ commencement speaker- The Honorable Brett M. Spencer has been chosen to deliver the commencement address at ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ on May 3.
Southern State students inducted into PTK honor society- The membership of one of higher education’s most recognized honor societies, Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), was enhanced by the induction of several new members at an April 12 ceremony on the Central Campus of ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ.
24 complete Southern State’s practical nursing program- The 46th class of ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s practical nursing program was honored during a special recognition ceremony held March 28 on the college’s Central Campus in Hillsboro.

Regional high school students claim ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Art Showcase honors- The annual Appalachian Gateway Regional High School Art Showcase was held Feb. 28 on ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s South Campus in Fincastle, with students in Southern State’s region claiming honors for outstanding artistic talent.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Theatre presents 'Lend Me a Tenor' April 5–7- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Theatre proudly presents Ken Ludwig’s "Lend Me a Tenor," playing 7:30 p.m. on April 5 and 6, and 3:30 p.m. on April 7, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Central Campus.
Free info seminar for ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Food Processing & Technology- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ will host an informational seminar, "Time to Eat: What’s On Your Plate," 1 p.m. Monday, March 25, in Room 207 of the college’s North Campus.

Open House planned for March 2 & 9 at Southern State- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ will host Open House events in March on all four campus locations for high school seniors and anyone interested in learning more about becoming a Southern State student.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ marks Entrepreneurship Week with info sessions- Entrepreneurship is not about "taking a job," it’s all about creating your own dream career. In recognition of National Entrepreneurship Week, ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ is hosting "Let’s Talk Entrepreneurship" informational sessions Feb. 19 and 20 on all four campus locations.
