³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ partners with Franklin University to offer bachelor’s degree- Franklin University and ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ (³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ) hosted an event Dec. 6 to officially mark the signing of the co-location agreement between the two institutions which will allow the offering of Franklin classes at ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Fayette Campus in Washington Court House.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ hosts free "Astronomy is for All" event on Dec. 6- Want to look at the December sky from an amateur astronomer’s perspective? Join your guide to the skies LaRue Turner 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, in the Learning Resources Center on ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s South Campus.

Food Processing & Technology now offered at ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ
- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ announces the launch of a new associate of applied science (A.A.S.) degree program in Food Processing & Technology.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ to offer dental assistant, veterinary training programs
- Through a partnership with Boston Reed College, ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ now provides continuing education programs in dental assistant and veterinary assistant training.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ faculty honored by higher education council
- The Southwestern Ohio Council for Higher Education (SOCHE) recently recognized three ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ faculty members for excellence in teaching.
Southern State Singers to present Dec. 9 concert
- The Southern State Singers will present their 14th annual Christmas concert 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 234 N. High St., Hillsboro.

- The ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Board of Trustees will meet 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, in Room 106 on the college’s Central Campus.
"Growing Roses" workshop Nov. 15 at Southern State
- The Brown County Master Gardeners will present a series of educational workshops and presentations on ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s South Campus.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Patri-Tots in Hillsboro earns perfect rating- The Patri-Tots Learning Center at ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Central Campus in Hillsboro has earned a 100-percent licensing compliance inspection rating with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ welcomes Montpelier archaeologist for Nov. 13 event- Specializing in American slave sites, archaeologist Matt Reeves, Ph.D., will present "Archaeology at James Madison’s Montpelier: Rediscovering and Restoring the Madison Plantation Landscape" 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, in the auditorium on ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Central Campus.

- The Student Success Committee of the ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Board of Trustees will meet 1–2:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, in Room 106 of the college’s Central Campus.
Info session planned Nov. 9 for new aviation degree- Does a career in aviation sound like the perfect path for you? Through a new partnership agreement, ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ and Great Oaks Career Campuses will collaboratively offer an FAA-certified associate’s degree in Engineering: Aviation Maintenance.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ band to perform Nov. 11 Veterans Day concert- The Southern State Community Band will honor our nation’s veterans with a Veterans Day concert 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Central Campus.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ South Campus to host Nov. 8 performance by Steve Free- Award-winning songwriter Steve Free of Scioto County will perform folk music 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, in the Learning Resources Center (LRC) on ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s South Campus.
'Knockemstiff' author to kick off ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Reading Series on Nov. 8- Award-winning author Donald Ray Pollock will kick off the new Reading Series at ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ with a tour stop 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, in the Lecture Hall on the college’s Central Campus.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Theatre presents "A Doll’s House" Nov. 2–4- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Theatre will present Henrik Ibsen’s classic play "A Doll’s House" Nov. 2–4 in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Central Campus.
Free "Exploring Exporting" seminar Oct. 25 at ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Center- Have you ever considered selling your products and services internationally? Today it’s easier than ever for a company, regardless of size, to sell goods and services across the globe.
"Ghosts of Ohio" event at ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s South Campus Oct. 25- Meet "Ghosts of Ohio" founder James Willis at a special event to be held 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, in the Learning Resources Center on ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s South Campus.
'Amending the Soil' workshop Oct. 18 at Southern State- The Brown County Master Gardeners will present a series of educational workshops and presentations on ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s South Campus.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ provides outreach for students juggling work, families- Are you a college student trying to juggle the demands of work and family? You’re in good company. Approximately 84 percent of the total number of students enrolled in college classes nationwide are adult learners, with families and jobs.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ plans Oct. 18 artist reception for Roy Carpenter- An exhibition featuring artist Roy Carpenter is currently on display in the Learning Resources Center (LRC) of ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s South Campus.

AmeriCorps volunteers mentoring students at Southern State- Three recent graduates have returned to ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ this fall to serve as College Completion Coaches dedicated to supporting first-time students who are enrolled in developmental education courses to earn a certificate or degree.
Coyotes topic of Sept. 27 event at ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ South Campus- Author Carol Cartaino will discuss her book "Myths & Truths About Coyotes" 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, in the Learning Resources Center on ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s South Campus.
Pell, Hall sworn in as Southern State trustees- At the Sept. 12 meeting of the ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Board of Trustees, Adams County Judge Alan Foster presided over the swearing in of new trustee Mike Pell of Adams County and reappointed trustee Paul Hall of Brown County.
Progress on ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s plan for new campus in Mt. Orab- With a projected opening for Fall 2014, ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ is making steady progress on plans for its newest campus along state Route 32 in Mt. Orab.
"The Hillsboro Story" – Civil rights drama comes to Southern State- Susan Banyas will bring a theatrical performance of "The Hillsboro Story" back to its namesake town 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Central Campus.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ announces honors lists for summer quarter- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ has released its president’s and dean’s list for academic excellence for Summer Quarter 2012.

³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ soccer sabotaged at Mid Michigan Community College- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s men’s soccer team fell 0–2 to Mid Michigan Community College in Mt. Pleasant, Mich., on Aug. 25.
"A Doll’s House" auditions Sept. 7 at Southern State- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Theatre will host open auditions for the upcoming fall production of Henrik Ibsen’s "A Doll’s House."
U.S. Bank makes donation to ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Foundation- U.S. Bank has been a significant contributor to Southern State, totaling more than $15,000 in donation over the years resulting in numerous scholarships to Southern State students.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ soccer begins 2012 season with a win- On Aug. 24, the Southern State Patriots men’s soccer team made the five-hour trip to Lansing, Mich., where they defeated Great Lakes Christian College (2011 NCCAA II regional semifinalists) by a score of 4–1.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Basic Peace Officers complete training- The cadets of ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Basic Peace Officers Training Program were recognized at a special ceremony held August 16 at the college’s Fayette Campus in Washington Court House.
Southern State’s practical nursing program honors 39 graduates- The 45th graduating class of ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s practical nursing program was honored during a special pinning ceremony held August 10 on the college’s Central Campus in Hillsboro.

- Through a partnership with Boston Reed College, a national education provider, ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ is now able to provide healthcare training programs that prepare students for job opportunities in the growing allied health industry.

- The ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Board of Trustees will meet 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 8, in Room 303 on the college’s North Campus.
Adams County man appointed as ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ trustee- Ohio Gov. John R. Kasich’s office has filled an open seat on the ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Board of Trustees with the appointment of Michael P. Pell of West Union in Adams County.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ electromechanical engineering degree offered in Manchester- Three local institutions have partnered to offer an Electromechanical Engineering degree in Manchester and those interested can learn more about it during an Aug. 1 tour and informational session.
Wells introduced as new ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ women’s basketball coach- Matt Wells will take the helm as the new head coach of women’s basketball at ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ. Wells is a veteran on the court, with coaching credentials at Mt. Orab Junior High, Western Brown High School, Williamsburg High School, Amelia High School and, most recently, as the varsity coach of East Clinton High School.
McAvene takes helm as new ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ men’s basketball coach- Travis McAvene has been named the new head coach for men’s basketball at ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ. McAvene brings a strong reputation of winning basketball games and coaching elite talent.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Great Strides event raises $4,000 for Cystic Fibrosis- The weather was perfect for the Great Strides: Taking Steps to Cure Cystic Fibrosis event held recently at ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Fayette Campus in Washington Court House.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Patri-Tots’ Summer Fest slated for July 21- The Patri-Tots Learning Center will host a Summer Fest open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, at the North Campus location.
HUBZone workshop offered free at Southern State- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ is hosting a free Small Business Administration (SBA) "HUBZone Boot Camp" from 9–11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 11, at the college’s Enterprise Center.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Theatre presents "Annie" Aug. 3–5- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Theatre will present the classic, family–friendly musical "Annie" Aug 3–5 in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Central Campus.

³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Adult Opportunity Center holds recognition celebration- Area residents who passed the General Education Development (GED) test were honored June 14 at the 24th annual Adult Opportunity Center’s Recognition Celebration at ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Central Campus in Hillsboro.
Area college students inducted into PTK honor society- The membership of one of higher education’s most recognized honor societies, Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), was enhanced by the induction of several new members at a June 15 ceremony on the Central Campus of ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ.
Southern State announces honors list for spring quarter- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ has released its president’s and dean’s list for academic excellence for spring quarter 2012.
Carver addresses largest graduating class in ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ history- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s 37th annual commencement exercises were held June 8 in the Patriot Center on ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Central Campus in Hillsboro.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Associate Degree Nursing program graduates 38- Thirty-eight graduates of ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Associate Degree Nursing program were recognized June 7 during a recent pinning ceremony at the college’s Central Campus in Hillsboro.

- The ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Board of Trustees will meet 4:30 p.m., Friday, June 8, 2012, in Room 106 of the college’s Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro. The meeting is open to the public.
Hillsboro’s Kayla Deatley signs with ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Patriots- Kayla Deatley, a graduate of Hillsboro High School, signed a National Letter of Intent to play softball for the ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Patriots.
